Review a whole site without losing the details.

A practical workflow for reviewing CSV metadata, finding missing or duplicate fields, and handing off changes without uploading page data.

Prepare a small page inventory

Use one row per page and these column names: url, title, description. You can add image for image URL format checks. Other columns are accepted but do not appear in the downloaded report. Column names are case-insensitive; URLs should be complete web addresses.

url,title,description
https://example.com/,Studio Fern,Objects for everyday living.
https://example.com/shop/,Shop Studio Fern,"Handmade cups, bowls, and everyday objects."
https://example.com/about/,About Studio Fern,Meet the studio and learn about its materials.

Double-quote fields that contain commas or line breaks. Inside a quoted field, represent a literal double quote with two double quotes. The reviewer accepts up to 500 data rows and 1 MB at a time.

Review missing fields first

Open the batch reviewer, paste the CSV or open your file, and choose Review metadata. Blank titles, blank descriptions, and malformed URLs are useful first checks because they tell you where the inventory is incomplete.

This is a review of your file, not proof that the corresponding live tags are absent. An export may omit data that a site template supplies. Check the actual published page before treating a missing cell as a live defect.

Treat duplicates as questions

Google recommends descriptive page titles and distinct descriptions where practical. Repeated descriptions often tell the visitor less about the specific page. But the right change depends on the page’s purpose; not every repeated phrase is wrong.

Our tool compares titles, descriptions, and URLs after trimming, lowercasing, and collapsing repeated spaces. It does not recognize semantic duplicates, URL equivalence, tracking parameter variants, or canonical relationships.

For a repeated title, ask: are these separate useful pages, variants of one page, or duplicate rows in the export? For a repeated description, ask what meaningful detail differs for the visitor.

Use length notes as a second pass

Copy above our 60-character title or 160-character description writing guide receives a note. These are our editorial thresholds, not Google limits. Shorten only when doing so improves clarity or makes a key detail easier to notice. The search preview guide explains the distinction.

Export and verify the handoff

Download the review CSV. It includes row numbers, URLs, titles, descriptions, and notes. Formula-like values are prefixed with an apostrophe for safer spreadsheet handling; this can make the exported text differ from the source. Keep the original inventory for exact comparison.

Apply approved changes through your CMS or source templates. Inspect representative published pages afterward. The reviewer does not verify live tags, image dimensions, redirects, canonical selection, or indexing. Use the single-page editor to build an HTML fragment for individual pages.
